The archaeologist for the Gifford Pinchot National Forest will discuss native food processing as part of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge's Second Sunday lecture series.
Rich McClure's presentation will begin at 2 p.m. July 12 at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse on the Carty unit, 28908 N.W. Main Ave. The plankhouse is normally open from noon to 4 p.m.
Refuge admission is $3.
McClure's research includes documenting the use of controlled burns to manage the forest landscape and techniques for processing traditional foods such as huckleberries and camas root.
