Deputies capture alleged hit-run driver

Car ditched, man caught in Orchards

Sheriff’s deputies converged on the Orchards area late Monday night after an alleged hit-run driver fled in a Suzuki SUV, ditched it, ran off and was caught.

The series of events began about 11:30 p.m., according to preliminary reports, when the driver crashed into a fence along Meadows Drive, just east of Green Meadows Golf Course, and drove away.

Deputies found the damaged car abandoned near the 6300 block of Northeast 104th Court, northeast of Orchards Park, said Sgt. Kevin Allais with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers took positions around the area and put a tracking dog on the driver’s trail.

The driver was captured nearby at the Nobl Park apartments, 6001 N.E. 107th Ave.

Officers first thought the SUV was stolen, but later learned the driver had permission to use it.

The driver is not in custody, but officers will ask deputy prosecutors to consider charging him with hit-run driving, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
