A fire that started in the laundry room damaged a home at 10312 N.E. 93rd St. late Tuesday night.

Vancouver firefighters were called to the residence of Louis R. and Marion Swartz at 11:19 p.m., said Vancouver Fire Capt. Bill Garlington. They arrived to find flames and smoke coming from a window on the side of the home.

In addition to the laundry room, the kitchen and dining area were damaged. The cause was under investigation.

The family was home at the time, and escaped along with the pets.
