Subaru said Monday its U.S. sales crept higher in 2008 on strong demand for Forester and Impreza models. The Japanese company is the only major automaker so far to post an increase in yearly sales.
That increase is reflected in Port of Vancouver figures, as well. Through November 2008, Subaru had shipped 54,858 cars into the U.S. through the port —surpassing the total of 44,889 cars shipped through the port in all of 2007. The Port of Vancouver is the West Coast port of entry for Subaru, and is the entry point for most vehicles that enter the country west of the Mississippi River.
Subaru sales for all of 2008 rose by 0.3 percent to 187,699 vehicles from 187,208 in 2007.
