Quarry worker dies in accident

Wednesday, December 3 | 3:55 p.m.

BY STEPHANIE RICE

A man was killed Wednesday in an industrial accident at an east Vancouver rock quarry.

Details were not available.

A spokesman for the state Department of Labor and Industries said three inspectors were investigating the accident at the quarry, Southeast 192nd Avenue and Brady Road.

He said the victim worked for Slavco Rock Products of Clackamas, Ore.

Jim Flaherty, firefighter/spokesman for the Vancouver Fire Department, said crews from Vancouver and Camas responded to the quarry at approximately 1 p.m. but the man was dead.

Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department, said officers also responded to the quarry but it was clear that the death was accidental so the matter was turned over to the state.
