A troubled economy is apparently sending more people back to school for training or retraining.
The state board for Community and Technical Colleges reports enrollment at Washington's 34 two-year colleges is the equivalent of more than 133,000 full-time students. That's up from 125,000 last fall.
A spokeswoman, Loretta Sephanen, says the growth is in all areas: recent high school graduates, transfer students, worker retraining, and professional development for working adults.
