HOCKINSON — Hockinson school board members on Thursday selected Ron Arp from among four candidates to fill a board vacancy.
A 4-0 vote followed interviews of the four candidates and an executive board session to discuss their merits.
Arp, 45, is the parent of two Hockinson students and has been involved with the Hockinson High School booster club.
The former Nautilus communications executive now works as a private communications consultant, the district said.
He will be sworn in at the Oct. 21 board meeting to fill the District 2 seat previously held by Deb Stavig, former board president.
Stavig’s four-year term was to expire next year, so Arp must stand for election in fall 2009.
Stavig resigned from the board in July, in part to protest the handling of the employment review of Superintendent Delcine Mesa-Johnson, whose duties were restructured this school year after a poor performance evaluation.
