“Mullet Man” suspect at a bank in Tualatin, Ore., on Monday.

The FBI has released security video images of a man who allegedly started to rob the Bank of America branch at 409 S.E. Chkalov Drive on Wednesday, then fled without any cash.

The same man also is suspected of two more bank robberies and two more attempted robberies this week in Oregon — three in Portland and one in Tualatin, according to an FBI bulletin.

The FBI has dubbed him “Mullet Man” for his shaggy hair style.

The man walked into the Cascade Park bank about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday and handed a teller a note demanding money, according to a bulletin from the Vancouver Police Department.

For an unknown reason, he then fled empty-handed and escaped. No one reported seeing him in a vehicle.

In the Vancouver bulletin, the would-be robber is described as white, in his mid- to late-20s and thin, with an unshaven face and scruffy goatee. He may have worn a shoulder-length brown wig. He wore a blue cap with ‘Nike’ on it, a blue jacket with a red lining and a dark backpack.

The FBI bulletin contained a similar description, but said he’s about 5 feet 9 inches tall and in his mid-40s.

Anyone seeing the man should call 911.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI’s 24-hour hot line at 503-224-4181, or the FBI’s Vancouver office at 360-695-5661.

Or call Vancouver police Detective Lawrence Zapata at 360-487-7420; or Detective Wally Stefan at 360-487-7425.

Level 3 sex offender homeless in county

A convicted sex offender who molested children has been released from Larch Corrections Center and has registered as living without a fixed address in Clark County.

Daniel R. Humbyrd, 29, is classified as a Level 3 sex offender, the group considered most likely to commit new sex crimes, according to a bulletin from the Sex Offender Registration Unit of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

In 1993, he was convicted in Clark County of first-degree child molestation and second-degree incest. He was 13 when he sexually assaulted three children, the bulletin said.

He was convicted last year, in Cowlitz County, of third-degree assault of a 9-year-old girl with sexual motivation.

Humbyrd is white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes. He is not wanted by police. He’s being monitored by the sheriff’s unit, the state Department of Corrections and the Vancouver Police Department’s Sex Offender Tracking Unit.
