I only wish Baird had voted no and held out for a better bill.
He's now saying he wants an even better bill so why did he vote yes in the first place?!

I don't think our representatives in gov't really have a clue here and I hate to see responsible taxpayers bailing out those who made poor decisions in the first place.

Baird is a clueless as Handbasket is. Now that he's on record supporting rewarding real estate speculators and others who knew they couldn't afford what they bought and gambled on being able to sell for a profit before their interest-only ARMs reset, Baird loses my vote and so does everybody else who voted in favor of this turkey. Get this straight, candidates: I do NOT want you rewarding these irresponsible people and the charlatans on Wall Street that facilitated them.

We need to find EVERY Congress person who voted yes on this, and make sure that NONE of them are re-elected! Baird caved to Pelosi and thats all there is to it. He may have voted yes, but on election day we can ALL VOTE NO!

Please. Baird did the correct thing. He is far from clueless and by supporting the bill showed he actually understands the situation compared to anyone who voted against it.

This is NOT a bailout. Not a bailout of Wall Street. Not a bailout of anyone. It is designed to be an infusion of liquidity into the market, to unclog certain frozen assets that have tied up the system. If the media would stop sensationalizing the plan and politicians would listen to Bernanke or Paulson we would be a lot better off. They are not asking for a 700B check, merely a line of credit to purchase risky assets from troubled institutions. From the beginning they have advocated a "reverse auction" that would require broad market participation and allow the market to digest and dispose of some unhealthy balance sheet items. By doing such they would purchase assets for as cheaply as possible, and while not at all likely, it is possible that this could cost the taxpayers nothing. But it will be significantly less than the advertised figure of 700B if done right.

Please look into how this thing would actually work instead of accepting it for what news institutions feed it to you as.

I don't know who Delavar is, but I do now! I would NEVER vote for anybody (either Rep or Dem) who supports this bailout. WTF? These congressman want to steal more cash from taxpayers & give it to the crook bankers. All of them on the take: Congress, Banks, Lobbyists, Loan companies, ripoff Title companies, Appraisers, the entire industry. They act like it never happenend. I call in the financial holocaust. Nobody to blame? I'm not even much of a voter, but this time I will be. Matter of fact, I might just get a DELAVAR sign for my yard. Baird sux.

Honestly, yes there were poor decisions made and there is plenty of blame to go around. We've seen this before though. Excessive risk taking because of a sever moral hazard problem (S&L bailout...Keeting Five Anyone?)The costs to our economy of not dealing with this now would far exceed their maximum allocated amount of 700B.

What a mess our leadership has gotten us into.
If we believe in free markets then we have to let the correction happen.
Unfortunately that will mean economic slow down and loss of jobs.
A bailout will only delay the inevitable
Our leaders have not served us well.
Vote 'em out and bring in new people that have no ties to the pitiful game that is Washington DC.

Here's a link to a good article that I read from Drudge Report today explaining how we are on the slippery slope to centralizing and nationalizing our banking industry. This is bad news for our future liberties and freedom.
