Bridge inspection restricts loads

Friday, September 26 | 9:54 a.m.

CRAIG BROWN, COLUMBIAN STAFF WRITER

The Highway 433 Lewis & Clark Bridge will undergo a bridge inspection operation this weekend that will make the two-lane bridge too narrow for oversized loads to cross.

The bridge spans the Columbia River between Longview and Rainier, Ore., and is a popular route for Clark County motorists headed to Astoria, Ore., or the Long Beach Peninsula.

The work, performed annually, starts at 7 a.m. each day. Two-way traffic will continue to flow across the bridge, but no wide loads are allowed on the bridge during this work. Inspection work should be finished by early afternoon each day.
