Event remembers homicide victims
The Board of County Commissioners and the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office will observe a National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the commissioners’ hearing room on the sixth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.
A proclamation will be read. The public is invited.
The featured speaker will be Jeanne Reveal, a retired Woodland police officer. Reveal was friends with Judy Mulryne, who was raped and killed in 1996 at her home in north Clark County. Mulryne had worked at the Fargher Lake Store and had walked in on a burglary. She chased off the intruder, Ulus Henry Rogers. The next month, he was waiting for her in her home when she returned from work.
Rogers pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and was sentenced to life in prison. A drifter whose criminal record dated to 1979, Rogers is currently incarcerated at Clallam Bay Corrections Center.
